Googong Dam foreshore walk: Rob Wignell

Googong Dam foreshore walk: Rob Wignell

  • Date:
  • Venue: Googong Foreshore; Googong Foreshore carpark, Googong, NSW.

Time:  9:15 for 9:30.
Date: Sunday 2 August 2020
Place:  Googong Dam – follow signs to the boat ramp.  (If you miss the boat ramp sign, the road will take you an extra few hundred metres to the lookout over the dam. )
Bring:  Camera and appropriate clothing for a winter day.  Also bring a chair and refreshments so we can sit suitably apart and solve the world’s problems from about 11:00 am.
General comments:  The water level at Googong seems really low.  I noticed a few viewing platforms that seem to have moved a long way from the water.  The foreshore track basically follows the contours so it is easy walking.  It has few undulations and is well formed.  I recommend that we plan an out and back trip so that we can judge an appropriate time for turning back towards the car park.

There is a toilet block near the boat ramp car park at Googong.

Covid alert:  I will ask everyone who attends to give me their name and contact number so that I can supply these details if contract tracing becomes necessary.  I also ask that we apply the 1.5 metre social distancing guide as strictly as we can.  I will keep the name list for three weeks and then destroy it.  Any infections that may arise after three weeks are unlikely to have originated through our outing.
