This outing will provide an opportunity to shoot orchids and other flowers, butterflies, smaller insects, spiders, etc.
What to bring:
- a camera, ideally with a macro lens;
- A flash might be helpful, perhaps with a diffuser designed for macro photography;
- There might be scope to use a tripod;
Check the weather forecast, bring sun hats or waterproof jackets as appropriate.
Let’s meet at the carpark on Caswell Drive (see map) at 9.30 am. This location does not demand a lot of walking, we wander around within a few hundred metres of the carpark. Any latecomers should find us quite easily.
For those who don’t know this carpark, look for “Black Mountain Walks – Caswell Drive car park” in Google maps. It is a little obscure, slow down and look carefully as you approach it – southbound on Caswell Drive. There is a yellow sign indicating a turn-off to the left, then a blue “P” for parking. Turn off to the left just after the “P”. (If you miss the turn you have a 15 minute drive to get back to this point.)
